EXPLORA is run by Museo dei Bambini Società Cooperativa Sociale Onlus (Social Co-operative), founded in 1998 and is included in the ‘Registro delle Imprese' (business register) held by the Chamber of Commerce.
Explora is a charity Cooperative, with a female majority. 21 out of the 33 partners are members of staff. Its main mission is to set up and run the facilities dedicated to children, schools and families.

The Cooperative is member of the Confederation of Italian Cooperatives, of Federsolidarietà, of Confcooperative – Rome Unione Provinciale. The cooperative’s mission takes inspiration from the World Cooperative Movement and its main principles: mutuality, responsibility and role charting, sense of community, ties to the local community, steady relationship with State and Public Institutions.

Staff roles are charted according to areas of interest: direction, exhibits and exhibitions, education and entertainment, general secretariat, ticket office and shop, accounting, maintenance and cleaning.
The Cooperative avails itself of the collaboration of Italian and foreign interns and of Civil Service volunteers.
