April 22nd is Earth Day, an event celebrating the environment all around the world; this year marked its 50th anniversary.
The first Earth Day was celebrated on April 22, 1970: that day nearly 20 million people took to the streets to march for a safer planet.
Since that day, every year, citizens together with agencies, organisations and the UN, have been setting up marches and events to raise awareness of environmental issues and the protection of the Earth.
Explora also celebrates Earth Day and provides 5 tips to find out how small actions can make the difference for the future of our planet, a common gift that we all share and that makes our lives all the more valuable.
Happy Earth Day!
Water is a valuable asset: let’s save it in our daily life when having a shower, brushing our teeth, or watering the garden.
Recycling means turning an item into raw materials which can be used again for a completely new product; our duty is to properly follow this first step, which is sorting out waste.
Not all materials need to be recycled: you may turn them into creative objects giving free rein to your imagination.
Sow, plant and take care of green plants at home, at school or in your district: trees are essential for our life and the future of our planet.
A kitchen is an ideal space to understand “conscious consumption” and learn how to avoid wasting: products are like “windows to the world”, they tell us stories of distant and near places, people, relationships, choices and values.
