Camps

The Explora Camp is always open during school holidays for election days, summer, Christmas, Easter holidays. Division into two age groups, 3-5 and 6-11 years, helps children socialise and engage in activities specifically designed for their different learning needs:

  • Grown-up, 6-11 years – Children attending primary school (not middle school)
  • Babies, 3-6 years – Children not yet attending primary school (minimum number required)

Camps take place from Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 04:30 pm, with daily and weekly tickets, and include science, tinkeringcoding workshops, physics and biology experiments, art ateliers and cooking labs.

The Explora Camps offer a new way to see the world, stimulating the children’s creativity and curiosity.

Fond of nature and vegetable gardens? Some of the Baby Camp activities are focused just on this: Explora coordinates GARDENStoGROW, Urban Horticulture for Innovative and Inclusive Early Childhood Education, a project co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, which focuses on creating educational vegetable gardens for children in early childhood. Plenty of workshops are on schedule at Explora to find out about plants, flowers, and vegetables, using a sensory and scientific approach, and getting an insight into environmental education and nutrition.

While awaiting the opening of the kid’s fablab in 2019, thanks to Creative Makers, a project co-funded by the EU Creative Europe programme, some Grown-up Camp’s workshops are dedicated to the old traditions of print and letterpress, supported by tinkering and making, teaching methods that stimulate creative development through technology and science.

Explora also cares for innovation and new technologies: workshops and laboratories based on gaming and discovery interactive experiences are also on schedule, thanks to Nintendo Labo, a project involving 5 top Italian museums, with Explora being the second to host the initiative.

The Explora Camp also offers educational robotic activities to experiment coding and get familiar with the robot world in a fun and exciting way.

There’ll also be many cooking labs for babies and grown-ups: the Officina in Cucina space, an area separate from the exhibit pavilion, is the ideal place where tasty treats can be prepared and baked, where to learn how to weigh out and get to know many new ingredients and try out your skills.
