Holiday Workshops 2017

From December 23rd to January 7th, Explora will give children and families visiting the Museum the chance to rediscover the magic of Christmas through a host of activities and events. Christmas holidays are a good moment for children to get together at Explora to play, discover, and explore.

Workshops for younger children will be a magical combination of experimentation, technology, DIY, science and plenty of creativity.

From December 23rd to December 31st (except for December 25th, as the Museum will be closed):

  • Christmas Weaving, for children aged 3-6 years, a workshop about tinkering, crafting, where children can have fun with wool threads, cardboard, pompoms, glue and plenty of creativity and create unique Christmas decorations;
  • Make a difference at Christmas, for children aged 6-11 years, an interactive exhibit workshop, Valuable Plastic, to learn how to collect, re-use, recycle and make new objects from plastic packaging such as a Christmas decoration, unveiling the secrets of plastic and learning how to recycle consciously.

From January 2nd to 7th (except for January 1st, as the Museum will be closed):

  • Space Befana, for children aged 3-5 years, a construction workshop using an ingenious combination of rubberbands, cardboard and paper, to celebrate the famous old woman riding a broomstick who brings children sweets (if they are good) and lumps of coal (if they are bad).
  • Let’s hang our stockings!  for children aged 6-11 years, an interactive exhibit workshop similar to the one named Make a difference at Christmas. Valuable Plastic, to learn how to collect, re-use, recycle and make new objects from plastic packaging, during the first days of the new year dedicated to the Befana, unveiling the secrets of plastic and learning how to recycle consciously. 

When: from December 23rd to January 7th, 2018 at 10:00 am, 12:00 pm, 03:00 pm, 05:00 pm.
Closed on December 25th and January 1st. On December 24th and 31st, the last visit is at 3:00 pm.
How to attend: Activity is included in the Museum ticket price, number of participants is limited.

The visit at Explora will also be sweetened with Officina in cucina–Cooking Lab Starry Little Chefs, the sparkling recipe of the star-shaped biscuits filling the kitchen with the sweet smells of Christmas: mix corn and white flours, pour cane sugar, add extra-virgin oil, eggs and baking powder, and sprinkle passion and plenty of fun on top of it! Once out of the oven, the yummy little stars are ready! Taste them with your beloved ones.

When: Saturdays and Sundays in December and January
Entry times: 03:45 pm (December 24th and 31st at 10:45 am)
Age: 5 years and up
Ticket price: €10.00 for the Cooking Lab.
Entry ticket to the exhibit pavilion is € 6.00 only if visits take place on the same day.
How to attend: Access to workshop is limited; tickets can be bought directly online or booked by calling 06 3613776, tickets must be collected at least 30 minutes before the workshop starts.
