Journeys: Art beyond borders

From April 21st the Art beyond borders at Explora, with 2 exhibitions of the Journeys project, co-financed by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.

  • The exhibition Children of the sea by Sibomana focuses on the faces of ten children who are accommodated in a centre for asylum seekers on the outskirts of Rome. On display in the area in front of the museum’s entrance hall, it highlights Sibomana’s technique that makes use of black and white photographs and bright colour painting. The message is clear: educating people to integration, reminding that all children have a right to be happy.

  • The Photo exhibition by Luigi Narici (AGF) is on display in the museum hall and captures the project events, from 1st to 9th April at Explora, with more than 200 families with “Play on the beach”, theatre play by Riccardo Vannuccini, ArteStudio, the workshop “Diversity as richness”- Workshop based on the comic strip “Il fumetto intercultura” by Takoua Ben Mohamed, and “Colour Journey”- Arts workshop with Sibomana.

The Journeys project is co-funded by Creative Europe, a European Commission’s programme, whose aim is to promote refugees’ integration through visual arts and theatre. The project – coordinated by Artreach, a cultural UK agency – is on tour in Rome at Explora, in Palermo at CESIE and in Hamburg at Altonale GmbH as partners, and also involves the Municipality of Rieti and TRAFO House of Contemporary Arts in Budapest as associate partners.
